Illuminated Makeup Mirror

Often you might see lighted makeup mirrors on video shots of film stars preparing their makeup. After doing this, these actors know that their makeup will look good under the harsh stage lights. These mirrors help artists put on makeup just right. For a woman who is about to put on her makeup, the mirror allows the best over all view of her face. The clearer and brighter the mirror is, the better aid it is for putting on makeup. Mirrors are an absolutely necessary part of beauty makeup stations.

Reveals Your Facial Features
A makeup mirror that is lighted has features that ensure that when one looks into it, all the blemishes, warts, moles, small rashes, fine lines and tiniest details are revealed. This is important when applying makeup. When you start a daily ritual of cleaning your face, toning and moisturizing, a lighted makeup mirror lets you know if you missed any places.

Kinds of Mirrors
There are different kinds of lighted mirrors. The magnifying makeup mirrors can have 10x magnification and many are distortion free. This is important when trying to see the tiniest and finest detail. Some mirrors are double-sided. One side is no magnification while the other side is magnified.

Wall Mounts
There are magnifying wall mounted makeup mirrors. One kind can be pulled back and swiveled to whatever side that one would want to see clearly. Another kind is the magnifying, double-sided wall mirror that extends a short distance from the wall with both sides lighted.

Vanity
One type of vanity makeup mirror lights up when used, sits on a pedestal and is made of brushed brass. It is ideal for home use which you can use even when you just want to clean your face or fix your hair.

Another kind of lighted makeup mirror that you can use at home is the lighted, double sided, round mirror. It features a regular mirror on one side, and the magnifying mirror on the other side. Both sides use a halo light for added brilliance and clarity.

Compact
For traveling, a fold-away compact makeup mirror features a 10x magnification that mimics natural day and night light. It is made so that one can see clearly while cleaning and grooming. This compact design folds easily and can be placed in a bag.

A lighted magnifying makeup mirror that has 5x magnification with 4 light settings is another choice. This kind of mirror uses the available light. It can be used in daylight or evening, in the office or at home. The mirror has 3 panels to provide wide angle viewing, and has a side view mirror panels for custom viewing and can be closed,is compact for traveling.

Every woman has her likes and dislikes. Some women think that the mirror they use should show the tiniest detail even without their eyeglasses on. Because of this, women scour the market for the best, most convenient lighted makeup mirror.

Makeup Mirrors With Lights

When you are putting on makeup, you would like to see everything clearly. You also want to see things as they will look in the light when you leave the house. Makeup mirrors with lights make this possible. Several mirrors will even allow you the choice of evening lighting in case you are getting ready for a night on the town. So whether your plans call for a candle light supper or an afternoon outside, you will have a real image of how others will see you.

And there are several additional things a lighted makeup mirror can do for you. It’s uncomfortable to go out in public if you somehow happen to overlook a spot when putting on your blush or base. Makeup mirror lights help prevent that. And the chore becomes even easier when you get a mirror that includes magnification.

There are other decisions you will have to make before you select your mirror. The bulk of them have a swivel hinge, with a normal mirror on one side in addition to a magnified mirror on the other. 4X or 5X magnification is fairly normal, though you can get it as low as 1X or as high as 10X.

This is perhaps the hardest decision to make after you have decided you can no longer tweeze or apply makeup without a lighted mirror. Remember that while you apply makeup or tweeze, the glasses must come off. Also think about where you will be using the mirror. If you sit by a dressing table, how big does this mirror have to be in order to be adequately positioned? Does your mirror use batteries? If not you’ll want to be certain there is an electrical outlet near the place you will be using it. If you’re used to standing up when you apply makeup, you will need to have a mounted on a wall mirror.

You can even buy a fogless mirror if you will be using it in the shower. They are watertight, and even come with clocks and radios if you want. Suction cups will hold them on the shower walls and as expected, they use batteries to run. And, believe it or not, I know somebody that both tweezes and applies makeup in the shower. Her premise is that the cool mist prevents the makeup from caking and makes the hair pull out devoid of pain.

If you travel a lot or need to apply makeup at a moments notice, then you also need a travel mirror. They easily fit into your purse or overnight suitcase when folded and can be utilized everywhere because they are battery powered. A number of them turn the lights off immediately when you close them.

There are numerous styles, sizes and finishes to choose from if you are just looking for a regular vanity mirror. It’s simple to locate one that will match the decor of the room. Plastic frames come in all colors, and you might also select metals that range between period golds and brass, all of the way to the modern nickel and chrome.

Owning A Lighted Makeup Mirror

While the majority of women who apply their makeup at any given time in the day do so by using a regular mirror, smart women know the importance of lighted makeup mirrors. They are the women that look terrific because they used these special mirrors.

Lighted makeup mirrors are an essential tool for anyone who wants to look good. They are the key to perfect skin. They can be used when doing your own facials to ensure that your skin is properly cared for, hence making a perfect base for makeup application. They are wonderful for tweezing eyebrows as well.

No matter what you were going to be doing, any time day or night, these eras will give you proper lighting that is necessary to apply to all your makeup, from the foundation right to your blush. The best part is, you will avoid any streaks from being formed when you apply your foundation in front of a lighted makeup mirror. This in turn will help your translucent powder go on smoothly as well, without taking.

From this point on, the rest of your makeup will be easier to apply, without going overboard. For instance, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and blush will all be applied better, because your foundation is just right, with proper coverage.

If you are really looking for a way to help with your makeup and the condition of your skin, invest in one of these products. They also come with different lighting options to help you apply the right makeup for day time or night time. These really come in handy, especially when going to special functions that may call for a full makeup treatment.

Most of these mirrors come with the flip-side magnified mirror, that is second to none. It is essential to help remove unwanted hair, shaping eyebrows, draw precise lines with eyeliners and pencils, as well as covering skin flaws.

Do Vision and Dream Boards Really Work?

(Or How To Attract A New Car)

The idea of making vision or dream boards or, as I was taught some 30 years ago, Treasure Maps, to attract what you want has recently gained new and greater popularity, mainly as the result of the movie and book, The Secret.

The idea, however, is not new. Catherine Ponder wrote about them in her book, The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity in the early 1960’s and Shakti Gwain brought the idea back into popularity in 1975 in her classic self-help book, Creative Visualization. They both referred to the idea as a “Treasure Map,” which is what I was taught some thirty years ago, while living in Marin County California.

I was looking at a collage on the wall while visiting a friend’s new apartment. I asked her what this was and she replied, “Oh, that’s my treasure map.” She went on to explain the idea to me. A chill went down my spine when I looked out the window and realized that the amazing view of San Francisco harbor and the Golden Gate bridge, along with the apartment I was standing in, was almost an exact match to the picture on the wall.

It didn’t take much more to convince me that this was a great tool for manifesting.

Regardless of where you learn this idea or what you call it, the concept of making a visual representation of what you desire is a powerful aid in creating the life you want.

Whether it’s something as simple as manifesting a new car, as you’ll see below, a special vacation, career, relationship or an entire lifestyle, Vision Boards are something I strongly suggest you add to your “Success Toolbox.”

Writing your goals, reciting affirmations, visualizing your desires, and using a visual collage of what you want are all powerful aids that will speed your progress and contribute to your creating the life you were born to live.

Perhaps one of the simplest uses of a vision board, and one most people can relate to, is in attracting a new car. I use this reference in my books and seminars not so much because I’m hung-up on cars, but because it’s a concrete material example of how to use the principle.

My wife, Georgia, wanted a new car. As I teach in my goal setting programs, she had become clear as to the make, model, and color. In her case, the color would prove to be the greatest obstacle to overcome. Georgia wanted a Jaguar in Racing Green. Since the color has been discontinued and it’s the one most people identify with the Jaguar brand, they are becoming rare.

Following the steps to attracting what she wanted, Georgia found a photo of the car and placed it next to her travel makeup mirror. Each day, as she was putting on her makeup, she’d see the image of her dream car. At the same time, we had set up an Internet search for the car.

She would visualize driving her new car while, at the same time, being grateful for the car she already had. This is an important point. Always give thanks for what you have. The Bible statement, “To he who has, more is given,” implies being grateful for what you already have.

Does it really work?

You bet.

Several weeks later, I posted a photo on Georgia’s Facebook profile of her sitting in her green Jag.

What do you want?

Start collecting pictures that represent what you want to attract into your life. Be sure to include a photo of you or your family in your vision. Put it somewhere you will see it regularly and affirm your good is on it’s way to you.

Allow it.

Allowing means not doubting, not pushing it away. If you’re praying for rain, carry an umbrella.

Curl Your Hair In a Hurry – Without Heat

Sleep is too precious a commodity to waste tossing and turning to accommodate rollers. And days are too busy to spend hours in curlers waiting for them to dry. How, then, can we get healthy, luscious curls – without heat, and without wasting time?

Pretty Clips

The easiest way to curl hair on the go – and look good while doing it – is to use decorative clips. These are available almost everywhere, are inexpensive, and come in all shapes, sizes, styles, and colors. Some clips are decorated with “pearls”, some with rhinestones, some are plain. You can get colors to match your hair or your outfit. You can get plain clips and decorate them yourself – with glitter, fabric, small silk flowers.

In purchasing decorative clips, make sure:

1. the clip closes down all the way. Look at it sideways when it’s closed – do all the teeth mesh together, from front to back of the clip? This is important, because hair will fall out of the clip if only the tip of the clip closes properly.

2. to choose a variety of sizes. You’ll need big clips for soft curls, and smaller clips for tighter curls. Check out the newest rage, the octopus. It’s perfect for long, thick hair. Scunci makes them in all sizes.

3. Don’t confuse clips with barrettes. Barrettes generally won’t hold enough hair to create curls.

To use the decorative clips, wait until hair is 90% dry (this will happen naturally as you put on your makeup and do morning chores). Then roll up hair the way you would if you were pincurling it – but use the clips instead. You’ll have to use fewer clips than you would pincurls, for aesthetic reasons. For instance, you might pull your hair up into a roll near the top of your head and secure it a clip. Make a second roll of the remaining hair, and secure it too. A few hours later – at work or when you go out that night – take the clips out, spritz with a light-hold hair spray, and your curls are big and lovely.

Note: If you do find your hair slipping out of a clip or an octopus, use bobby pins discreetly to keep the clip in place.

Braids

A stand-by for many centuries. If you don’t like the way braids look on you, pin them up close to the head, and add a store-bought pony tail to create a more updated look.

Pony Tails

When hair is almost dry, make a pony tail and twist the hair around a number of times before securing it at the bottom. Your long hair will come out with pretty, natural-looking bed-head curls.

A pony tail, high on the head, with the bottom ends tucked under and held with bobby pins, will yield a sleeker style. Your hair will be smooth and volumized, with a sophisticated look. To keep from getting a crease where the elastic was, use a scarf or ribbon (secured with bobby pins) to hold the pony tail in place.

A bun…

is a classical style that leaves a curly head of hair when taken down.

A French twist…

will create curly hair, too, but it will be fluffier and less symmetrical than curls from a bun.

Pincurls?

Put hair up in close-to-the-head pincurls and don a pretty, wide-brimmed summer sun hat.

Hand-scrunching

Air dry hair until it’s the tiniest bit damp. Then add styling mouse and scrunch with hands until hair is dry. This method works best on short hair. You’ll get a casual, tousled look.

Root work

Giving the roots of your hair volume and body can make your whole hairstyle look good.

For short hair – use a strong-hold styling mousse toward the end of the air-dry time, and hold your head upside down, fluffing the hair with your fingers. Stand up and don’t comb.

For medium to long hair – use a root hair spray. Spray either of 2 ways:

1. Flip your hair upside down, and gently spray the roots. Wait a few seconds for spray to dry before flipping your head back up.

2. Divide hair into sections – perhaps 4 to 6 sections, more or less depending on the length and thickness of your hair. Take one section at a time, hold the hair up, and spray the underside at the roots. Pincurl into place until the spray dries. Continue on to the next section. When letting hair loose, don’t comb – just use fingers to put hair in place.

Many of us need to ease-up on the heat stylers, and let our hair get healthy again. And these methods are actually quicker and easier than blow drying!

Here’s to your hair health – and beauty.

Creating Crafts With Old Buttons – 10 Ideas

I just love using old buttons in my craft projects. Here’s ten quick and easy ideas to put those old buttons to use. For most projects, you will need a tube of craft glue, and hardware from your local craft supply shop, or items found at your local mart in the craft section.

IDEAS FOR MINI, SMALL OR MEDIUM SIZED BUTTONS:

1) Game Piece Mini Button Pins. Use small buttons to create mini mosaics or small flowers on a poker chip or used domino. Hold together with craft glue., Once dry, and glue a “brooch pin” on the back and you have a neat craft idea.

2) Picture frames: Transform any boring picture frame into something wonderful by gluing mini buttons all around the edges. (This works best with flat surface photo frames.) These make great gifts, from pearl buttons looking wonderful in a designer room, to colorful rainbow frames working as a “get well soon” gift.

3) Personalized Gift Tags: Use cardboard to cut out tag shapes, or buy the large price tags at your local office supply store. Once decorated with markers, crayons, paints, or decoupage with paper. Finalize by gluing mini buttons in the initials or first name letter of the person you are giving a gift to. This looks adorable and is a great way to use your buttons up. (If you are making your own cardboard cut out tags, you will need a hole punch and ribbon. The store bought version come with string).

4) Makeup Mirror Gift: Old makeup or powder compacts can be cleaned, (soaked in hot water to remove metal inserts) then small buttons glued all over for a unique gift idea. These serve as tiny jewelry cases, cash boxes, vitamin containers, or treasure boxes and make great stocking stuffers or novelty gift ideas.

5) Button Necklace: Mini buttons can be woven together in and out using thin gauge translucent crafting wire or clear fishing string medium weight to make a functional necklace.

IDEAS FOR LARGE TO JUMBO SIZED BUTTONS:

6)Dog Tag Identifier: Use a large button with a flat service to decoupage your dog’s name and phone number onto a button (avoid the hole area). Apply many coats of clear sealer, and when dry, sew the button onto the top of your dog’s collar. Even if your dog loses the tags from the lower loop, the button will stay atop the collar, and provide valuable information if the dog becomes lost. If you have to wash the collar, hand wash gently and avoid soaking the button area for long periods of time.

7) Greeting Cards: Use jumbo, extremely large buttons that are unique, vintage or colorful, and glue on the front of a handmade card. Use them as center of your artwork, for example, a large yellow button is the sun, a large black button is the center of a sunflower, or a large brown button is an owl’s head. They make interesting mixed media components in your work.

8) Pendant from Large Buttons: Jumbo or large buttons which are unique in design can be adorned with a bale glued on with craft glue. They make lovely pendants. Alternative: Layer buttons and glue together, for a unique layered pendant look!

9) Key Fob with Buttons: Remove the ring from an old key chain, or acquire key chain rings for this project. Find some high strength cord such as hemp, or colored plastic cord. Thread the cord though the large button holes (Criss-cross the cord if using four hole button), then braid it. Your braid should be 3″ or more in length. Attach with knots onto the ring. It will make a pretty and simplistic key chain or gift idea.

10) Button Magnet Gifts: Using small magnets, attach to backs of buttons with craft glue. Allow to dry and assemble into sets of six. Find medium weight cardboard to use for gift package backing. Mount buttons onto the cardboard backing as this is your gift display. (This can be done by cutting a small slit in the cardboard, and pressing the magnet through to hold the magnet in place, so that all you see on the front of the cardboard is the pretty buttons, as if they are mounted on a card!) Cover with cloth or wrap with newspaper and these make great gift sets.

How to Find Tempting Stock Market Takeover Targets

Investing in the stock market can be, shall we say, difficult! One way to increase your odds of success are to find companies that are about to be taken over or merged with other companies. These tempting takeover targets can pump up the stock price several points in a matter of days!

The problem is finding these companies before the takeover has been announced, which is no easy feat, let me tell you! If you don’t have a crystal ball there is not a lot you can do to find them… or is there?

One way to find these tantalizing takeover targets is to watch investors with top track records in finding them and to follow their buying patterns. You can follow the buying patterns of individual investors by following their SEC 13D filings. You can download these for free from the SEC’s website on the day that they are filed (or thereafter).

Individual investors are required to file these forms within 10 days of any purchase of 5% or more in a company’s outstanding stock. Of course, if somebody is interested in taking over a company then a 5% buy in is essential to get the ball rolling.

But that’s not an absolute clear indicator that you should follow them! You should also always analyze the companies financial statements including their balance sheets and income statements as well as their statements of cash flows so that you can determine on your own what a valid price for the stock is.

For instance, if you determine that a stock is worth $10 a share and it is already trading at $30 or $40 a share, just because somebody is acquiring large chunks of their stock doesn’t necessarily mean that the merger will add value above what the stock already trades at. So be very very careful!

Something else to watch out for when looking for target takeover is a companies tax loss carry forward. Companies that have high tax loss carry forwards may be takeover targets because that carry forward is a huge benefit to another company. Sometimes other companies will buy a company just to take advantage of the carry forward on their taxes.

Another area to watch for is a companies price to earnings ratio or PE ratio. What you are going to want to do is benchmark that PE ratio against other companies within the same industry. This will tell you if a company is undervalued or overvalued compared to other companies within its industry. As far as takeovers are concerned, it’s better to be undervalued compared to the rest of the industry. If a company is undervalued, then another company can come in and gobble them up in the hope that the merger will create enough buzz to prop the stock price up to a more reasonable level.

So there you have several ways to determine whether a company is a likely takeover target. You don’t need a crystal ball after all, just some common sense and a little technical analysis and research. Find just a few likely takeover targets and you can engineer quite a nice boost to your overall portfolio returns.

Things You Must Have in Your Bathroom

Today, customers who are looking for bathroom renovations are spoilt for choice, as there are so many new options on the market for fixtures, total fit outs, accessories, etc. Bathroom trends have changed in 2009 and there are some really interesting things that are on the must have lists.

Most customers want great quality products that will last them a long time, but are also aesthetically appealing and go well with your needs and requirements. The bathroom fittings and fixtures should be so that you don’t waste any unnecessary time. Now you wouldn’t want to rush to work but get late because of a broken shower or faucet. So, it is also important that you make timely repairs so you are not caught unaware.

One of the best ways to start off when renovating bathrooms is to check out the latest bathroom trends, like bath tubs, spa tubs, rain showers, etc. Also, it is time for sleeker, more modern looking bathrooms along with opposing trends, like the bathroom with a natural look. These come with rustic colour tones, wooden accents, bamboo or fabric blinds, warm paintings and potted plants. Brisbane Bathroom Renovations has some great ideas for your bath space.

Today’s home owner does not want to settle for anything less than the best, so when you go shopping, don’t be afraid to ask for the best.

Let’s take a look at a few bathroom must haves:

o Bath Tub:

This is an ultimate luxury addition and is the perfect solution for that long awaited bath tub soak after a long day at work. Relax in the hot water, breathe in the aromatherapy candles and read your favourite book. Wondering where to keep the book after you’re done? Get a bath caddy that will hold your glass, book, phone (not recommended for a relaxing experience), etc.

o Terry Towels:

Feel pampered with soft, plush, cushiony terry towels that just invoke the feelings of sheer bliss after a hot shower. Choose some pastel colours, which are visually more appealing, and let the royal treatment begin.

o Bath Salts:

Bath salts are therapeutic and have medicinal properties as well. Add just a few table spoons to the water and see your troubles melt away with the steam.

o Mirrors:

Every bathroom needs professional makeup mirrors and if they are ornate with beautiful frames, then not only do they add an element of charm to the bath space, but also are a necessity. You can even get your makeup mirror installed in the bathroom if you are short of space.

o Bath Stools:

You will require bath stools if you need to place a book or need to get something out of a high cupboard. A trendy steel one or even a wicker one will add just the right amount of charm to your bath space.

o Eco Friendly Soaps:

It is time to go green to try and make every contribution to saving the environment. You can even carry this on in your bathroom by using naturally made soaps, which are less harsh on the water and are as effective as commercial soaps, but actually are much better for your skin due to the natural ingredients.

We hope these pointers have been of some help.
